Due to slowdown, the companies are expecting the attrition rates (quitting rate of employees) to go down significantly. This means, companies will cut down on the hiring of laterals (experienced people from other companies) as their in house workforce is going to remain intact.

From the above article, you can see that companies like Mindtree have actually gone up saying the number of campus offers could actually increase from 3000 to a higher number this year. Other companies, though could be little cautious, would still remain optimistic as far as freshers hiring is concerned, according to sources.
