3 Tips To Overcome Placement Fear
Many youngsters like you often tend to become frustrated and stressed out during their preparation for placement tests and job search during final year times and after passing out. Fear and stress are understandably your primary enemies in securing a good job with a good company. Below I have given three tips that can help you to overcome fear and stress during preparation for placement tests and during job search after passing out.
Tip 1 : Skill Set Is The Key
A very simplistic skill set is what that is found in most resumes. While a simplistic skill set like "C Basics", "Windows OS" is good enough to get placed in most cases, you should strive to stand apart from the rest. A general recommendation by experts is that, you should try to learn in depth at least one Operating system apart from Windows, one database in depth (preferably Oracle), one programming language (preferably C++ or JAVA) and one web technology (J2EE/DotNet/PHP). Try to dump your resume with skills running for ten to fifteen lines. This elaborate skill set is the best medicine to stay out of fear of getting placed. No employer in the world would like to miss out such candidates regardless of his/her placement test marks.
Tip 2 : Learning Is Not Enough
While skill set is very important, it is equally important that you convince your employer of your knowledge in applying the skills you have learned. For example, if your resume reads "strong in C", you must try to support the fact with any mini-project done using C. Generally freshers don't get an opportunity to do more than two or three projects in their college days. But nobody is going to prevent you from doing projects on your Desktop out of your own interest. I know one of my old friends who used to have a CV for at least 10 pages with screen shots of all games he developed in his Desktop. Such resumes/CVs are going to boost up your self confidence levels and not going to let fear (of getting placed) come in the way.
Tip 3 : Healthy Life Style Is Important
A healthy life style with good eating habits, good physical fitness and good sleep habits is very essential. This will help you to stay emotionally balanced and can alleviate stress to the maximum extent. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. I would also suggest a protein rich drink like Proteinex and green tea daily.Essential nutrients are known to keep you alert, active, emotionally balanced and stress free. Further they can strengthen your grasping power as well while learning for placement tests.
